Human trafficking can be defined as the transportation of people from one place to another illegally or for the purpose of economic exploitation.
The causes of human trafficking are:
1. Social discrimination
2. Political instability
3. Corruption in government
4. Lack of employment opportunities
5. Insufficient penalties against traffickers
6. Economic disparity
7. Armed forces
The health implications of human trafficking are:
1. Physical and psychological abuse
2. Infectious diseases
3. Sexually transmitted diseases, e.g HIV/AIDS
4. Depression
5. Unplanned pregnancy
6. Death
The forms of human trafficking are:
Sex trafficking and labour trafficking. Sex trafficking is when the victims are taken out for sex acts, while labour trafficking is when the victims are taken out to do illegal jobs; like kidnapping or armed robbery.
The solutions to human trafficking are:
1. Creation of jobs
2. Adequate health policies
3. Community-based income generation scheme
4. Labour inspection
5. Economic stability
6. Adequate punishment for traffickers
7. Strict immigration
Conclusion
Traffickers should not be allowed to traffic human beings like animals. There should be strict government policies guarding the country or state against human trafficking.
