An act of kindness

By Zaynab Madugu

One day, a poor boy named Aminu who was selling goods from door to door  to pay his tuition fee found out he had only little money , and he was hungry.

He decided to ask for a meal at the next house . However, he lost his nerve when a lovely looking girl named Zaynab opened the door, instead of a meal, he asked for a glass of water. She thought he looked hungry so she brought him a large glass of milk.

He drank it slowly, and then asked ‘ how much do I owe you?’ Zaynab replied to him ‘ you don’t owe me anything, my mother has taught me never to accept a pay for an act of kindness.

Aminu then said ‘ I thank you from the bottom of my heart and he left, not only did he feel stronger physically but his faith in God was stronger.

Years later, Aminu became a doctor and Zaynab became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled with her illness and they finally sent her to Paris for further treatment where they called in specialists to diagnose her rare disease, and doctor Aminu was called in to treat her.

When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately, he went down the hall of the hospital to her room, he recognised Zaynab at once, he was determined to save her life and from that day he gave her special attention.

After a long struggle, the battle was won, Dr. Aminu requested her bills be passed to her room, she was afraid to open it because she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all .

Finally, she looked and something caught her attention on the side of the bill, she began to read the following words’ paid in full’ with one glass of milk’ signed Dr.

Zaynab was excited and thanked Almighty Allah and her mother for giving her training with good morals and kindness to everyone.

Zaynab is of I Scholars International Academy, Gwarinpa, Abuja
